The Consular Section of the Embassy of Portugal in Cairo informs that, due to exceptional circumstances, the waiting period for replies to appointment requests for consular acts can be longer that the currently established – up to 10 working days.

In preparation for the early voting for the Legislative Assembly, which will take place between the 27th and the 29th of February 2024, and for the purposes of voting abroad, the Portuguese citizens who are temporarily in one of the countries under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of Portugal in Cairo – Egypt, Jordan, Sudan and Eritrea – must be present at the premises of the Embassy – located in Ahmed Heshmat Street, N. 25, Zamalek, Cairo:

Only citizens who are temporarily abroad and are still registered to vote in the territory of Portugal can participate in the early voting, under the following conditions:
a) while performing public duties;
b) while performing private duties;
c) when abroad on official representation of the national team, organized by a sportive federation with a statute of public sportive utility;
d) students, researchers, professors and scholarship research holders in foreign institutions of higher learning, research units or other entities recognized by the competent ministry;
e) citizens undergoing medical treatment abroad;
f) citizens who live or accompany the electors mentioned above.
On the days of early voting, voting citizens who fulfill the conditions stipulated above can exercise their right to vote at the premises of the Embassy between 9 am and 1 pm.
